Possible problems with the car radiator cap


1. Water leakage of the car radiator cap


The problem of water leakage is common. A small amount of water leakage will leave marks on the pump vents, and a large amount can be seen directly through the water temperature and the floor of the chassis. When parking the car for one night, the garage floor must be a clean concrete floor. If it is not possible to park the car in a garage with a clean concrete floor, place light-colored cardboard directly under the engine of the car. Note: The water pump is more likely to leak when the engine is running, so it is not suitable to check for leaks when the engine is running.


2. Reduced circulation capacity of the car radiator cap


Open the car water tank and you can see that the coolant is running in a whirlpool. If the whirlpool is not obvious, then there is a problem with the water pump and the water temperature will rise. This situation is especially obvious in summer. Check if the coolant warning light is on. If it is on, there may be a leakage in the coolant reservoir, or the water pump may be broken. Another possibility is that there is a leakage in the cooling system.


3. Abnormal noise of the car radiator cap


This situation is generally due to a problem with the bearing of the water pump. Noise occurs under the operation of the belt. Of course there are mild and serious ones.


4. Idling problems with the car radiator cap


Since the car water pump is connected to the belt to collect the cold water in the water tank, if the rotation resistance of the water pump is affected, the engine speed will be directly affected and the vehicle speed will be unstable. The main manifestation is that the revolving speed of the car is not stable after starting. If the resistance is very large, flameout is likely to occur in winter mostly.


Faults and preventive measures of the car radiator cap


Under normal circumstances, when water flows into the radiator , the joint of the hose is most likely to crack and leak. You can cut the damaged part with scissors, and then re-insert the hose to the radiator water inlet joint with a clip or wire clamping tightly. If the crack in the standard radiator cap or custom radiator cap is in the middle of the hose, you can wrap the leaking crack with tape. Wipe the hose before wrapping, and wait for the leaking part to dry.


Wrap the tape around the leaking part of the hose. The water pressure in the hose is high when the engine is working, so it is necessary to wrap the tape as tightly as possible. If there is no tape, you can also wrap the plastic paper around the crack in the radiator cap first, then cut the old cloth into strips and wrap it around the hose. Sometimes with large crack, water may still leak after wrapping. Then, the water tank cover can be opened to reduce the pressure in the water channel to reduce leakage. With the above measures, the engine speed should not be too fast, and the high-end driving should be carried out as much as possible. Pay attention to the pointer position of the water temperature meter while driving. If the water temperature is too high, stop to cool down or add cooling water.
